Mission & Vision

The Story Behind The Name

The Oasis Project was founded by Chelsea and Mary in July 2020. When they realized they have the same heart for their local community and beyond and saw such darkness everywhere they turned, they decided to let God use them practically and start making a difference one person at a time!

The 20/20 vision these two have is to one day have a physical hub in the city as a source of hope to the community and a 24/7 safe place for people to come…everything from residential and transitional housing programs, school programs, and the many different things that plague our community - addiction, homelessness, abuse, aged out foster care, trafficking and so on.

When Chelsea and Mary started this nonprofit, they wanted to be intentional to come up with a name for it that accurately communicated the mission and vision for what we wanted this nonprofit to be. We knew we wanted to be a life source, light in this dark world, a safe place, something that provides healing and restoration. We spent hours and hours researching different meanings of things and ended up on “Oasis” and took a deep dive into what an Oasis actually is, how it functions, and its impact on its surroundings. It didn’t take long before we knew that an “Oasis” was the perfect representation of what we wanted to be in this world - a source of relief, refuge, safety, and a place where people can always come to in this crazy world to find the hope and love of Jesus.

More about /Ō ’ Ā S I S /

An Oasis is found in the midst of a dry, dull, dreary, dead, and desert land [ this dark and dying world]. In a barren land, it is a place where water is found [Jesus, the only hope]. It is a place of green grass and fruitful trees. It is a fertile area, a place of life. To the desert traveler, an oasis is a place of welcome RELIEF. It is a marvelous thing to come upon an oasis. There, one finds refreshment, revival, renewal, rejuvenation, rest, and relief

Spiritually an Oasis is wherever God is. It is a place where one can find God's grace, goodness, glory, and greatness. It is the place where one can find fellowship and friendship with God.

“But he also can turn a barren wilderness into an oasis with water! He can make springs flow into desert lands, And turn them into fertile valleys so that cities spring up.”  Ps. 107:35-36

Our only interest is meeting people where they are at and helping them take a step - find their purpose and walk in it and know they have us cheering them on every step of the way. We refuse to be just another organization that gives handouts and leave, which in return hurts more than helps. We want to do the dirty work and come alongside people for the long haul, be in real and raw relationships with them and motivate them to walk in their God-given purpose.

The heart of Oasis Project is to reach our local community on many different levels including foster care, adoption, homelessness, inner city outreach, trafficking, abuse and so much more.
